Some Days, You Just Have To Create Your Own Sunshine

Staying positive and always seeing the ‘glass half full’ is much easier said than done.  Trying to maintain a positive attitude and outlook on life is something that most of us strive for — but how do you do that when you feel like you’re stuck in a rut?  Sometimes a bad day turns into a bad week, which an even carry on into a bad month.  It’s like you’re drowning in quick sand and the harder you try to free yourself you are engulfed in a pool of negativity.

We’ve all had those moments when we feel like nothing is going the way that we planned.  No matter how hard you try, it feels like it’s just one thing after another.  May it be work related or in your personal life, there are times that when it rains….it POURS!  It can be quite difficult to try and stay positive when you feel like your world is crumbling apart and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel – but hang in there…you’re not alone.

Over the past few years, I have really tried to change my outlook on life and live with an attitude that everything happens for a reason, and there are lessons for us to learn from the trials and tribulations that we face.  It is the universe sending us a sign that we need to stop and re-evaluate our life, gain perspective and go back to the basics of what is really important in our lives.

There is a saying that I love:

Big Destiny

I honestly believe and swear by this saying.  God or the universe (depending on your own personal perspective) doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle.  Whatever happens in your life isn’t ‘bad luck’ it’s a chapter in your story which helps shape the person you’re supposed to become.  Know that there is a greater plan and that you will survive.  We have our ups and downs in life so that we can grow and become the best versions of ourselves and not only learn from our experiences but to also be there for others to guide them when needed.

In my life, I realized that whenever I’m faced with a situation or hardship, instead of dwelling over it or questioning “why me??”  I try to understand and reflect. What’s done is done and there is nothing in my power that I can do to change the situation, so instead, I accept it.  I take it for what it is and try to live through it with a smile on my face.  Is it easy to do??? Not at all…but having faith and knowing that god won’t give me anything I can’t handle helps me get through it.  It reminds me that good things are to come and when they do, I will have a greater appreciation for them.

Take a moment right now and reflect on what is going on in your life.  Look around and find something or someone that puts a smile on your face and that you can be thankful for – hold on to that.  So the next time you feel like you are drowning in an abyss, stop and try to find the positive.  Remind yourself of what you do have to be thankful for and know that some days, you just have to create your own sunshine.

some days

If there is something that you are going through in your life I hope that I was able to bring some sunshine to your day and provide you with some words of encouragement.  Know that this too shall pass and it may be difficult but try to reflect and find the your sunshine.

Until next time!
